A few people have been running into an issue whereby they are discovering that they are unable to run the Cisco Adaptive Security Device Manager (ASDM) on newer Windows 10 builds. In this short article we will show you how you can resolve this issue.

- Install the Cisco Adaptive Security Device Manager (ASDM) on your Windows 10 machine
- Go to “Start” and right click on the “Cisco ASDM-IDM Launcher”
- Select “More” and then “Open file location”
- Right click the ASDM shortcut and go to “Properties”
- Look at the string contained within the “Target” field.
- Change the text to “C:WindowsSystem32wscript.exe invisible.vbs run.bat”
- You should now be able to launch the ASDM application on your Windows 10 machine.
Florin are you saying to download the standard asdm.bin file from Cisco support site, load it to the ASA, enable http and after its loaded & http is configured properly, http to the ASA & I should see a download option? Right now where I'm stuck is I don't see an ASDM-IDM file on the support site. I only see standard asdm.bin files. We have a new Cisco ASA 5506. Out of the box, we connect a computer, browse to and download the ASDM launcher. It gets as far as 'software update completed' but then it's just the blue circle of boredom for ever. Same problem on a different computer, but both run Windows 10. There is also an issue if you use Windows 10 and a Cisco ASA5506-X. When you configured the SourceFire you won’t be able to use the ASDM any more. Unless you cancel / deny the search/login to the SourceFire with the ASDM.

The shortcut for Cisco ASDM-IDM Launcher was pointing to javaw.exe under 'C: Windows SysWOW64' which I just replaced this with the current location of javaw.exe. /asphalt-8-maps-download-for-android.html. This is located in 'C: Program Files (x86) Java jre1.8.025 bin'. ASDM image on 5505 is no longer updated but I hoped by running in compatibility mode i would be able to run it as windows 7 compatible application. It was working even on windows 10 however with newest updates stopped working. I was just wondering whether there is a way to run older apps as asdm image on 5505 is no longer updated.
